Carrie Underwood News : 'Jesus Take The Wheel' Singer Defends Gay Rights Amid Conservative Christian Beliefs

Carrie Underwood news reported how the "Jesus Take the Wheel" singer defended gay rights.

According to a report from Christian Today, the former "American Idol" winner expressed her support for marriage equality, which was not expected from the country star as she is known for her openly conservative Christian beliefs.

Carrie Underwood recently made news when she praised "Ragtime" star Audra McDonald.

Aside from gushing about the singer and actress' voice, the country star also said she admire how Audra McDonald stands up for a lot of advocacies, including gay marriages.

"I feel the greatest legacy she will leave behind lies in the works she does for others," Carrie Underwood told the news site.

"Never afraid to stand up for what she believes, Audra is a strong voice speaking out for humane treatment of animals, dignity for the homeless and marriage equality."

A few years ago, Carrie Underwood also told a news publication called The Independent about how she wants to push for marriage equality.

"As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love, and want to marry," she said.

"I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love."

Aside from voicing her concerns about marriage equality and admiration for Audra McDonald, another person that makes Carrie Underwood gush a lot these days is her son, Isaiah Fisher.

UnrealityTV reported that the former "American Idol" winner is planning to release a new song for her firsborn with NHL Player Mike Fisher.

"I just kind of feel a little sad 'cause all my songs are about having girls," Carrie Underwood said, referring to "Mama's Song," "All-American Girl," "Blown Away," and "Forever Changed."

"Like, little boy baby Fisher's got nothin'!," Carrie Underwood joked.

"Even 'Forever Changed,' which is one of my favorite songs, is definitely like a mother-daughter kind of a song, so... I'm gonna have to get on that."
