EXID’s Solji Says Harsh Criticism Early In Her Career Made Her Work Harder For Success

Now a member of one of K-pop's most recognizable girl groups, EXID's Solji revealed that a bad critique when she was first starting out got her to work harder to get where she is today.

During this week's episode of Korean talk show Weekly Idol, EXID appeared as guests on May 6th.

When she was asked about a painful memory, Solji stated, "When I used to be a member of a ballad group named 2NB, I also gave lessons as a vocal trainer. One of the directors said to me, 'Solji, I don't think you're idol material.'"

"I was also told that I need to look like Goo Hara when I was having a rough time already," she continued as her eyes filled with tears.

Solji continued, "After that, I decided to try harder."

EXID made a comeback in April with their single Ah Yea and have won several trophies. Solji also appeared in MBC's King of Mask Singer and showed off her vocal talents and became a sensation in Korea.
