JYP Entertainment Changes Music Video Production Plans And 2PM, GOT7 Comeback Schedules After Issues With Directors

A new director will work with JYP Entertainment after a previous director halted a music video shoot four days before filming.

On May 11, JYP Entertainment revealed that two music video directors that the company had been working cancelled upcoming music video shoots on the same day. The productions of both 2PM and GOT7's music videos were cancelled after two separate Korean production companies halted plans.

JYP said that the cancellations came without warning, and only four days before the filming of 2PM's comeback video, postponing the comeback.

On May 13, JYP Entertainment revealed that Naive Creative Production will produce 2PM's next music video. The original company, Dextor Lab, cancelled the shoot four days before production without any warning.

2PM's music video was originally scheduled for release on June 1, the same day as song releases from YG Entertainment's male idol group Big Bang.

JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment are two of the three most prominent Korean entertainment agencies.

"The concept of the music video will remain the same, but the album release date will change," reported Newsen. "Naive is a team that we′ve worked with many times. We′re currently tuning up schedules for the music video and comeback."

The productions of both 2PM and GOT7's music videos were cancelled after two separate Korean production companies halted plans.

JYP Entertainment clarified the situation on May 11.

"Due to the irresponsible actions of director Han Sa Min and Dextor Lab, 2PM...was suddenly placed in a chaotic situation," said JYP Entertainment's official statement. "The music video planning, filming, album release date, promotion and marketing plans must all be tuned up again."

According to JYP, Han's side contacted JYP Entertainment four days before the filming saying, "due to the relationship with an artist that will be coming out at the same time, it will be difficult for the production to take place."

GOT7's music video filming was postponed after Director Kim Ji Yong of Fantasy Lab discussed the issue with JYP Entertainment. JYP Entertainment gave no further updates on GOT7's filming.
