May kicked off with comebacks from many of South Korea's top acts - most notably, major Korean releases from Big Bang and BoA for the first time three years. 

The second half of May brings numerous top K-pop comebacks, as well as several debuts.

Two of the Korean Wave’s top K-pop acts announced comebacks. SM Entertainment’s SHINee released their latest album “Odd” on May 18, while DSP Media’s girl group KARA will release “Cupid” on May 26.


Several solo artists also announced mid-May comebacks, especially several high profile female singers.

IU released “Heart” and took over Korean music charts on May 18, while T-ara’s member Eunjung debuted as a solo artist under the name Elsie on May 14 with “I’m Good.” Jace, a member of Miss $ who had appeared on Unpretty Rapstar, made her comeback with “#Hashtag” on May 15. JYP’s Baek Ah Yeon will release “Don’t Be Like This” on May 20.

From male solo artists, the second half of May saw Han Hee Jun collaborate with Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany for “QnA,” released on May 15. Zion.T will also make a comeback on May 19, and Jay Park will make his comeback on May 22.

Male idol group History, solo artist Jay Park, girl group Pritz, plan May comebacks. History will release “Might Just Die” on May 21, while Pritz ill releases “Crazy Cowboy” on the same day.
The second half of May also introduced several debuts. Male idol Monsta X debuted on May 14 with “Trespass”, N.Flying will debut on May 20.

2AM’s Lim Seulong plans to debut as a solo artist on May 19 with “Mood Swings.”

Along with K-pop, ballad singer Jung Yup made his comeback with “My Valentine” on May 15, and indie group Standing Egg” will release “Crazy” on May 22.
