2NE1 Nominated For MTV Italy Best World Artist Award As Group Celebrates 6th Anniversary

2NE1 gains another major nod overseas with MTV Italy nominating the K-pop girl group for the Best World Artist Award, reports Koreaboo.

2NE1 is representing South Korea, and is competing against other popular international acts such as Fifth Harmony (USA), Iggy Azalea (Australia) and Tokio Hotel (Germany).

Fans can still vote for 2NE1 to help the group clinch the award.

2NE1 is no stranger to MTV accolades, notes Korea, with the group's "Gotta Be You" song winning the Song of The Year at the 2014 MTV Awards. "Gotta Be You" is the title track from their most recently released Crush album.

The recognition is a great present for the girls as they celebrate their 6th anniversary since their debut in 2009.

2NE1 fans, known as Blackjacks, celebrated the anniversary around the world and flooded social media with greetings for their favorite foursome.Dara

This led #Happy6th2NE1 to become a top worldwide trend on Twitter, reports Allkpop, as fans affixed the hashtag with their congratulatory messages to the group for going strong for six years.

After a hectic 2014 which saw the group release a new album and embark on a world tour, 2NE1 currently seems to be focusing on solo activities.

Leader CL is preparing for her debut as a solo artist in the United States and has been confirmed to appear in a number of festivals and even throw the first pitch at a LA Dodgers baseball game. Meanwhile, Dara has been starring in lead roles in web dramas like "Dr. Ian" and "We Broke Up" with WINNER member Kang Seungyoon.
