Super Junior Members Shindong And Sungmin Join Military Bands As Part Of Mandatory Service

Super Junior's Shindong and Sungmin, the two latest members to enlist in the military, have been assigned to separate military band units.

SM Entertainment, in a television interview on May 19, revealed that both idols have completed their basic training and will be joining military bands as part of their two-year mandatory service, reports Allkpop.

The agency also revealed the exact divisions in which Shindong and Sungmin have been assigned.

"Shindong was sent to the third headquarters' 55th division military band while Sungmin was sent to the 17th division military band at Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do," SM Entertainment reportedly said.

Shindong joined the army on March 24 while Sungmin enlisted in the end of March around the same time as JYJ singer Jaejoong.

Given their enlistment in late March, both Super Junior members seem to have finished their five-week basic training on schedule.

It has been speculated that more Super Junior members - in particular Donghae, who was born on 1986 and is nearing the tailend of the requisite age for compulsory military service - will also be enlisting this year.

But SM Entertainment has so far only confirmed that on May 12 Donghae has passed the special conscripted police examinations while also insisting that no enlistment plans have been finalized.
