SM Entertainment Announces New Lawsuits As Their Legal Battle With Kris And Luhan Reaches Compulsory Mediation And Settlement

Although the Seoul Central District Court is now enforcing compulsory mediation between SM Entertainment and EXO's Kris Wu and Luhan, the record label is launching new lawsuits against other parties involved in the recent controversies.

On Wednesday, SM Entertainment released their official statement regarding Kris and Luhan's activities in China since filing their respective contract nullification lawsuits. Reportedly, the label has filed two additional lawsuits against the companies who used Luhan as their endorsement model.

"As EXO members Luhan and Kris's agency, we've officially planned two lawsuits against a cosmetic company based in Shanghai and a technology company in Beijing that used Luhan, who is arbitrarily promoting in China, as an endorsement model," said SM Entertainment according to allkpop.

"The suits were filed at the Beijing People's Court on May 18, 2015. In order to protect the legal interests of SM and EXO, we are adding legal action to the two lawsuits for damages we raised in February in Shanghai and Hong Kong."

In February, SM Entertainment filed a lawsuit against Kris and Luhan for allegedly violating their contracts by conducting promotions and pursuing projects in China. After filing the lawsuit in Shanghai, SM Entertainment also filed a similar lawsuit against Luhan through Hong Kong on Feb. 10.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Central District Court has reportedly appointed an official arbitrator and is forcing the legal battle between SM Entertainment, Kris and Luhan to reach a settlement.

According to Koreaboo, if a settlement is not reached by both parties, the justice department may enforce one under the compulsory mediation system, and it will act as the final ruling.

"We are currently reviewing the compulsory arbitration forwarded to us by the justice department, but we cannot release any detailed information regarding the case," said Kris and Luhan's attorneys reportedly to Star News.
