'Age of Wushu' Makers Announce Major Overhaul of Videogame: Upgrade Pushes Back Wushu's Planned February Release [LINK]

The makers of the North American version of the videogame "Age of Wushu" have announced a major overhaul of the game's localization and UI.

Citing player feedback as the reason for the upgrade, "Age of Wushu" maker Snail Games postponed a planned February 1 release in order to make the changes.

"We have decided to revise the launch timing to spring 2013," stated a Snail Games press release from last month. "This will allow us to better address community feedback and continue to update the game. When a more precise update on the release timing is available, we will share that information."

"Age of Wushu" features an elaborate virtual reality, where characters must craft their own goods and learn how to forage for food.

"Life skills are the central point of 'Age of Wushu's' player economy," explains gaming blogger Patrick Mackey of massively.joystiq.com. "All useful equipment, food, and most of the useful consumables are only available through crafting, and equipment requires lengthy production chains and an injection of tradable silver in order to make it effective. This process is fairly daunting to a new player, and even experienced players go for a long time without taking advantage of the many advantages present from trade and crafting."

The elaborate game even requires players to find daily employment.

"In 'Age of Wushu,' life skills represent a character's day job," the blogger continues. "You'll go to work gathering materials to sell or to craft into goods to sell, and then use the money from those sales to purchase things other people make and food to sustain yourself."

Gamers familiar enough with the game to make sense of that explanation, may want to try their luck at the upcoming Age of Wushu Global Championship Invitational scheduled for March.

"Snail Games is offering players an ALL-EXPENSES PAID TRIP TO CHINA to compete for honor, glory, and magnificent prizes," reads the videogame maker's website. "The grand prize winner will receive over $150,000 U.S. Dollars! (Converted from 1,000,000 Chinese Yuan)."
