Victoria And SM Entertainment Clarify That Singer Will Not Leave f(x)

f(x)'s leader Victoria will not be leaving the group.

On May 30, reports spread of the Chinese leader of K-pop act f(x) leaving the group and its agency, SM Entertainment, in order to focus on her career in China. Shortly after the claims, representatives of both Victoria and SM Entertainment denied the rumors.

While still a member of f(x), the reports were spurred by Victoria establishing a personal workshop in China to help further her career there.

On May 30, representatives of both Victoria and SM Entertainment denied the rumors of contract termination.

"Victoria has never brought up contract termination with SM," said Victoria's representative according to reports in the Korean press. "Victoria and SM are currently discussing her work plan. The studio will be established to expand Victoria's career in China, and with staff of the Chinese workshop performing as Victoria's managers in China."

The rep also thanked SM Entertainment, the press, and fans for supporting and showing concern for Victoria and the rumors.

Victoria herself addressed the rumors less directly, by sharing a picture on instagram showing herself holding her SMTOWN ID badge, with the comment "I'm going to work after a long time." She also add SMTOWN as the hashtag.

SM Entertainment's side also clarified.

"Victoria never requested the termination of her contract," an SM Entertainment representative confirmed.

The workshop, or studio, was set up with the knowledge of SM Entertainment, to localize the management of Victoria's activities in China. A similar company was set up for Lay, a Chinese member of SM Entertainment's male idol group EXO. Both stars and their Chinese local agencies are contracted with SM Entertainment.

Victoria last promoted with f(x) in July 2014, upon the release of the group's third album, "Red Light."
