VIXX Successfully Creates A Night Of ‘Utopia’ For Fans At Singapore Concert

VIXX may not be THAT group dominating the Korean pop music scene, but they are definitely THE rookie group you have to keep your eye on. With massive amount of talent, down-to-earth humility and a great sense of humour, it would be safe to say that VIXX has won the hearts of at least 99% of the audience present at their first ever concert in Singapore. Titled VIXX Live Fantasia Utopia in Singapore, the concert night was indeed a utopian paradise for Starlights (VIXX's fans).

Held at the Max Pavilion, the 120-minute show was impressive from start to end. And it was not the colourful pyrotechnic blasts or huge stage props (or the lack thereof) that elevated the quality of the show. In fact, the concert was rather simple with minimal fancy distractions. And it was this simplicity that allowed the distinctive talents and passion of the members of VIXX to shine. Known as concept-dols (concept idols), the concert perfectly blended the various VIXX album concepts into one power-packed fantasia.

The night kicked off with VIXX's signature debut dark concept and hit title tracks, "On and On," "'Voodoo Doll' and "Light Up The Darkness." Thereafter they introduced themselves and highlighted that there was a missing member amongst them. This marked the start of the various solo performances that captivated the hearts of many, beginning with Ken and his heart-tugging rendition of Adele's "Rolling In The Deep." Next was a powerful rap performance titled "Ghost" by Ravi as well as Maknae Hyuk's version of Jeff Bernat's "Call You Mine."

The atmosphere became more heated with a series of more upbeat tracks like "Say U Say Me" and "Rock Your Body" and showing the versatile prowess of VIXX. And what better way to impress a fan than a sweet serenade. VIXX proceeded to mesmerized with ballads "Love Letter" and "Someday" decked in their hot red chilli suits. Talk about burning passion and love!

The solo performances continued with vocal powerhouse Leo belting impressive high notes with the song "Words To Say," and dance machine Hongbin moving to "Fighting Sequence" and Leader N demonstrating elegance and sexiness whilst dancing blindfolded.

Another highlight from the concert is the close interaction and relationship between VIXX and their fans, Starlights. Despite the announcement of a lack of merchandise sale during the concert, fans still managed to light up the whole concert venue with a sea of blue and banner supports. The effort of fan groups who took charge to come up with fan projects is indeed commendable.

It was also interesting to note that VIXX might be one of the rare few groups from South Korea who did not bring up the famous (and possibly over-rated) local delicacy Chilli Crab and tried their hand at Singlish (Singapore English). Nevertheless, they took the effort to speak in English and provided as much fan service even up till the last second when they left the stage.

Promising to return to Singapore again to meet their fans, the event ended with an exclusive hi-touch session with some lucky fans. We look forward to VIXX's future albums and next concert tour!
