'Newborn' 13-year-old Photo Shoot: Boy's Adopted Parents Take Baby Photos Of Their Teenage Son [PHOTO]

A photo shoot of a "newborn" 13-year-old boy has received over 10,000 likes on Facebook after his adopted mother-professional photographer Kelli Higgins--posted it to the social networking site.

The baby picture of the teenager came about after Higgins was telling her family about an upcoming newborn photo shoot for a client, at dinner.

Latrell, the 13-year-old boy in the newborn photos, mentioned he didn't have any baby photos of himself. Higgins 12-year-old daughter suggested her mom take a newborn photo of the 13-year-old.

"I thought it was funny and that it would be a good idea," Latrell told TODAY.com.

The next day Latrell and went into Higgins's photo studio where his mom took the now famous photo of the 13-year-old newborn. The pair says they were laughing hysterically through the entire shoot

But beyond being cheeky, the photo also serves a practical purpose, Higgins said.

"I didn't have any photos of him either," she explained. "I think it's really hard to have children and not know what they looked like when they were younger."

Higgins and her husband adopted Latrell and his younger sister Chanya two years ago when the children were 10 and 5. The couple already had five biological children of their own and had another one on the way. Yet, they were concerned at the growing number of older children looking for foster parents.

"These children, once they get past a certain age, they don't find homes and they age out of foster care," Higgins said. "They have to figure out the world on their own and there's no one to go back to as an adult. Where do you go for Christmas? It's just horrible, it's heartbreaking."

On January 29, Higgins posted the photo of her newborn 13-year-old on Facebook with the caption:

"Here's my sweet not so little newborn! His name is Latrell and weighs 112 lbs."

Beyond getting over 10,000 likes, the photo has also inspired heartfelt comments from around the country.

"Wish there was a "LOVE LOVE LOVE" button," wrote Vivian Agbassi on Thursday. "This made my day. God Bless you and Latrell, now and always."

And how does the 13-year-old newborn feel about all of this attention?

He says he has enjoyed the photo's response and that everyone who he has shown it to has gotten a kick out of it.

Higgins says she is overwhelmed by the public response.

"The one reaction that is really humbling and I'm really excited about is there have been a lot of parents that come to me telling me that they were thinking about adopting a baby, but after seeing those photos it's changed their minds and they want to adopt an older child," she said.
