Psy Postage Stamp On The Way: Singer Celebrates "Gangnam Style" Surpassing 1.3 Billion YouTube Views With Stamp In South Korea [PHOTO]

International pop sensation Psy revealed Thursday that he will be releasing a postage stamp in South Korea to celebrate the video of his song "Gangnam Style" surpassing 1.3 billion views on YouTube.

"Psy's very own stamps' will be sold across various areas of Seoul at the post office starting on the 18th," Psy's record label and talent agency YG Entertainment told the website allkpop.com. "The 'Gangnam Style' music video reached over 1.3 billion views on YouTube and to celebrate taking the world by storm, we created these stamps."

PSY, whose real name is Park Jae-sang, studied Business Administration at Boston University in the 1990s before dropping out to attend the Berklee College of Music.

In 2001, the South Korean government fined the artist and stamp model when they determined his album "PSY From the Psycho World!" had "inappropriate lyrics" according to Time.

Yet PSY and South Korean officials appear to have reconciled if they are emblazoning his photo on government stamps.

"PSY's stamps are appealing to a wide range of the public audience and perfectly express his unique charms, and rather than an ordinary stamp, we would like it to be called a 'Psy artist stamp'," read the YG Entertainment statement.

PSY fans posted dozens of comments on allkpop.com Thursday, in response to the news.

"That's actually a cool way to commemorate all those views," wrote rodkrann.

"Wow, the stamps are actually really cool," wrote user cottonmouth. "Looks like some sick pop art."

User Jessica Thatch had a simple demand.

"Need to release in the U.S!!!!!!" she wrote.

And with the widely publicized financial problems the U.S. Postal Service is having, it's not a bad idea.

Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe announced last week that Saturday delivery at the U.S. Post Office will be terminated, so the fledgling government agency could probably use all the help they can get.
