EXO Break Own Record For Best Selling K-Pop Album Ever

K-pop juggernaut EXO keeps breaking records, this time with the fastest selling K-pop album ever.

Breaking their own record, SM Entertainment's boy band EXO recorded the largest volume of sales in the shortest time period in the history of K-pop. EXO had previously acheived the same record with the release of "XOXO" in 2013, when the group became the first male idol group to sell over a million albums in 12 years.

EXO's "Exodus" and the re-release with four additional tracks (repackage) "Love Me Right" sold a combined million in less than two months, the fastest a K-pop album has sold that many copies.

As of June 3, The K-Pop Herald revealed that EXO sold 1,125,020 copies of its second EP "EXODUS" and the repackage "Love Me Right." "EXODUS" sold 753,860 copies while the repackage sold 371,160.

The latest record broke EXO's previous one due to the swiftness of EXO's latest one million sales. EXO's "XOXO" took seven months to sell a million albums in 2013, while "EXODUS" and "Love Me Right" achieved the mark in less than half the time.

"EXODUS" was released in both Korean and Chinese, and the original release featured individual albums for each member, leading to multiple purchases from fans.

Since 2001, no K-pop act sold more than a million albums. In 2001, both idol group g.o.d and soloist Kim Gun Mo released K-pop albums that sold over one million physical copies of their albums.

EXO released "Love Me Right" on June 3, and will begin promoting the title song "Love Me Right" on Korean music shows after performing two concerts in Beijing on June 5 and 6.
