5 Times T.O.P Surprised Us In His Music Videos

T.O.P is undoubtedly one of K-pop's most chic male idols. With his deep voice, sharp jaw line, and piercing eyes it's no wonder he was listed as Rolling Stone magazine's 2013 Hottest Sex Symbols and FuseTV's Sexiest Musicians of 2013. All without taking his shirt off!

But there's far more to T.O.P than his sex appeal. Here are five times where he surprised us in his music videos:

1. When he appeared in a full "Planet of the Apes" style monkey suit for "Doom Dada"

Many were curious if the featured monkey was actually T.O.P for a while-and it turns out it was! "Doom Dada" was filled with artistic and avant-garde themes all throughout the video; from the zoetrope skeleton animation to the Salvador Dali style mustache.T.O.P's interest in modern art extends into his personal life, as fans can see from his Instagram. Art runs in his family, as well, since his grandfather is a prominent Korean modern artist.

Many of his other styles in "Doom Dada" were definitely shocking. But, for as scary as blue suit and the crying baby may be, T.O.P as an ape still wins for most surprising.

Though we probably shouldn't have been too surprised considering some of his Instagram selfies:

2. "Bae Bae"

From the colored contacts to the wonky walk, T.O.P really showed off a side different from his usually cool stage persona. Of course, T.O.P fans are no stranger to his "bingu" side but T.O.P really seemed to embrace his whacky side for this one! The bright suits, different colored contacts, and spiky hair also added to his crazy aesthetic. For a man who is usually cool and composed on stage, seeing this side of T.O.P not only in the music video but on stage as well was really a shock.

3. When he posed with fans for "We Like 2 Party"

Big Bang released their MV for "We Like 2 Party" earlier today. The airy, fun, and candid feel of the MV fits with the relaxing summer song quite well. What surprised us, however, was not the members happy-go-lucky, and slightly intoxicated, attitudes but how they interacted with their fans all around the city! At one point T.O.P is filmed patting a fan on her head and holding her close while he films. It's nice to see that no matter how popular Big Bang are as artists they'll still take the time to interact with their fans-and even include them in a video shoot!

It was a treat seeing him interact genuinely and warmly with fans, especially since T.O.P is often the most media shy and reserved member of the quintet.

4. When he dressed as a cowboy and harassed himself in "Bang Bang Bang"

We're not sure what was weirder: T.O.P dressing as a cowboy, T.O.P dressing as an astronaut, or T.O.P dressing as both and challenging himself to a rap battle. Of the music videos already mentioned, T.O.P's appearance in "Bang Bang Bang" is probably the least strange but we still can't help but question the astronaut/cowboy motif. Maybe he was really inspired by Toy Story?

Apparently, cowboys will beat astronauts every time as far as T.O.P is concerned.

5. His speed rapping in "Fantastic Baby"

We've focused a lot on T.O.P's many different appearances this far but we all know that T.O.P is far more than a pretty face. One of T.O.P's most impressive rap displays has to be his verse in "Fantastic Baby." With clear pronunciation and swift speech, it's hard not to be impressed! He demonstrates similar rap proficiency in "Doom Dada" but "Fantastic Baby" definitely started it all. Check out T.O.P's iconic wrap starting at 1:09:

Honorable mentions:

When T.O.P finally went topless for "Tazza 2"

Alright, so we know this was not a music video but T.O.P bearing it all was truly a surprise for the fans. A great surprise at that!

Has T.O.P done anything more surprising that you think should be added to the list? Let us know!
