Carly Rae Jepson New Album Was A 'Happy Challenge'; Jepson Joins Zac Brown And Tony Bennett At Songwriters Hall of Fame Ceremony

Tony Bennett, Zac Brown, Michael Bublé, Carly Rae Jepsen, Dr. John, Ledisi, Ne-Yo, Jennifer Nettles, Mike O'Neil, Richie Sambora, Bernie Taupin and Paul Williams will present at the the 2015 Songwriters Hall of Fame Annual Induction and Awards Gala.

Carly Rae Jepsen is riding high on her new album, Emotion. The singer took a moment before her acoustic performance at the Q102 studios on Friday afternoon (May 15) in Bala Cynwyd, Penn. to talk to The Guardian Magaine.

Jepson compared her new album, Emotion, to her last one, Kiss.

"I look back and I'm proud of the album but clearly nothing did as well as that song ["Call Me Maybe"] and it was a challenge to get attention on the rest of the B-side tracks," Jepson told the Guardian.

"But it was a happy challenge and a problem you can go at two ways; you can either be really pissed off or you can be grateful that you had some attention at all. I did the latter."

"I saw it as an amazing gift that has allowed me to take my time with this new record and make sure that I have a really strong body of work and not just one song, she added.

Carly Rae Jepsen's first single from Emotiuon, 'I Really Like You,' is really, really catchy. The hook really gets into the listener's head even as they are brainwashed by the repeated word "really," which Jepsen sings more than 60 times.

"I really really really really really really like you / And I want you, do you want me, do you want me, too? / I really really really really really really like you / And I want you, do you want me, do you want me, too?" she sings in the chorus.

Singer Carly Rae Jepsen first hit the charts three years ago with the infectious "Call Me Maybe." The Canadian singer-songwriter wanted a song that was just as catchy to be the follow-up.

"I told her that she couldn't come out with anything unless it was on the level of 'Call Me Maybe,'" Jepsen's manager Scooter Braun told Billboard in January. "And, now we have a new one that is on that level."

Scooter Braun is the founder of Jepsen's label, School Boy Records

"I Really Like You" is the first song off Carly Rae's upcoming 2015 album. "Call Me Maybe," was the debut off Jepsen's 2012 album "Kiss," and was followed up by her collaboration with Owl City, "Good Time." "Kiss" climbed to number 6 on the Billboard 200.

I Really Like You is about infatuation and might inspire addiction in the listener.
