Two Korean soloists threaten top K-pop acts reign over Korean music charts with soft ballad songs.

Singer-turned-actor Lee Seung Gi and JYP Entertainment rookie soloist Baek A Yeon each returned with new songs in the past month, and it seems like South Korea can't get enough of them. The second week of June saw the two songs move past many K-pop acts in popularity on charts, and threaten top K-pop groups like EXO and Big Bang.

Baek's "Shouldn't Have" and Lee's "And Goodbye" overtook EXO's latest song, "Love Me Right" on most Korean music charts, and on June 12 took second and third place on Korea's comprehensive iChart but are gaining in popularity and may overtake Big Bang's "Bang Bang Bang."

The iChart is instiz's comprehensive music chart based on nine Korean music charts, showing realtime popularity of Korean songs.

Lee Seung Gi is a popular Korean singer turned actor, known for his stirring vocals. "And Goodbye" is off of Lee's sixth album, which marks his tenth year in the Korean music industry, and was released on June 11.

Baek A Yeon is a soloist at JYP Entertainment known for her refreshing voice. "Shouldn't Have" was released on May 20, and slowly gained momentum in South Korea before rising through the ranks on Korean music charts.

YG Entertainment act Big Bang released "Bang Bang Bang" on June 1 and quickly took the number one spot on Korean music charts, while SM Entertainment's EXO released "Love Me Right" on June 3 and also quickly shot to the top. The two boy bands are some of the most popular K-pop acts right now, and tension between fans has been high as they compete on music charts.
