Mindy McCready Shot Dog Before Shooting Herself: Sex Tape With Roger Clemens Will Not Be Released According To Vivid Video [VIDEO]

Mindy McCready shot the dog of her dead husband, record producer David Wilson, before shooting herself on the front porch of her Arkansas home on Sunday afternoon, according to CNN.

"Mindy really loved her dog and that would not have been an act of malice at all," a friend of the singer told Fox News. "It would have been more of a case where she just didn't want to leave the dog alone."

The dog reportedly belonged to McCready's late husband, music producer David Wilson, who police found dead of a gunshot wound on the couple's porch last month.

Reports called Wilson's death a suicide, but Arkansas police say the investigation of his shooting is still open.

"We're currently still gathering information in regards to Mr. Wilson's case and Ms. McCready's case," Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss told CNN on Monday. "When we're able to lay all that out there, we will do so at that time."

This was the third time Mindy McCready, 37, attempted suicide, with the other attempts coming in 2005 and 2008, before an overdose in 2010. The latter led to the actress's appearance on the VH1 reality show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew."

McCready is the fifth "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" cast member to die in less than two years.

The "Guys Do It All The Time" singer leaves behind two sons, 6-year-old Zander and 10-month-old Zayne.

"I haven't had a hit in almost a decade," McCready wrote last year on her official fan website. "I've spent my fortune, tarnished my public view and made myself the brunt of punch line after punch line."

In light of McCready's suicide, TMZ reported Tuesday that Vivid Video has decided not to release a sex tape with married former Major League Baseball star Roger Clemens.

The cover of the not-to-be-released "Mindy McCready: Baseball Mistress" features the tagline "The affair that rocked baseball! The testimony that shocked Congress!"

The video is currently available on the company's website but Vivid Entertainment's Steve Hirsch says he will pull all digital versions of the video from the website ASAP.

McCready claimed she never authorized the sex tape's release.

Clemens who has not discussed the nature of his relationship with McCready issued a statement saying:

"Yes, this is sad news," he said. "I had heard over time that she was trying to get peace and direction in her life. The few times that I had met her and her manager/agent they were extremely nice."
