The 10 Best K-Pop Debuts In The First Half Of 2015

It's the middle of June, officially the middle of the year, which means it is time for the first look back at some of the best new K-pop acts that debuted on the scene this year. From January through the first half of June, here are some of our favorites.

The year kicked off with G-Friend's debut in January. Arguably one of the most popular girl group debuts of the year, G-Friend's song "Glass Bead" gained a lot of attention for the group's similarities to the early days of Girls' Generation.

CLC is Cube Entertainment's new girl group, which released the dance track "Pepe" in March. The group gained a lot of attention for including a Thai member, Sorn. Since the release of "Pepe," CLC made a comeback in May with "Like."

March also saw the debut of solo rapper Iron under Polaris Entertainment. Prior to debuting, Iron gained famed while appearing on "Show Me The Money 3" and featuring on songs sung by SHINee's Jonghyun and Sistar's Hyorin.

In April, WM Entertainment introduced Oh My Girl as a counterpart to the company's male idol group, B1A4. The group's first song "Cupid" offered a sweet but quirky concept while showing off the member's vocal and dance skills.

That same month another girl group, The ARK, debuted with their touching song "The Light." The group also gained a lot of attention for their strong dance skills, which they revealed on YouTube through a variety of covers of boy group dances, including powerful ones by BTS.

May saw the debuts of several new Korean male boy bands, including Monsta X, Romeo, Seventeen, and N.Flying, all of whom made strong impressions with their different styles.

Monsta X won hearts during the Stardom Entertainment survival show “No Mercy,” which led to the seven members debuting as a hip hop group with a strong rap element with the song “Trespass.”

Seven member Romeo debuted with a heavy dance track "Lovesick" and drew comparisons to senior K-pop act INFINITE.

Meanwhile, Pledis Entertainment’s Seventeen has been in the works for years, and debuted as a 13-member group with the sweet sounding “Adore U.”

N.Flying is the little brother group to K-pop bands like FTISLAND and CNBLUE, and their song “Awesome” introduced N.Flying as a new idol band.

Kim Feel released a few pre-debut songs earlier in the year, like April’s “Marry Me.” But Kim debuted formally in June with “Stay With Me,” a rock-influenced touching song that showcases the soloists skills.
