Emma Stone Unmindful Of Asian Backlash Controversy As Actress Giggles With Boyfriend Andrew Garfield While Doing Grocery

Emma Stone's casting as part Asian in Cameron Crowe's latest film has drawn controversy but the actress seemed unaffected as she was spotted grocery shopping with boyfriend Andrew Garfield in Los Angeles on June 8.

The photos published on OK! Magazine was only one of the few times that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were snapped together following the rumors of their split.

"A long-haired Andrew did the heavy lifting on the food shopping excursion as he pushed the cart and put the shopping bags into the car," the article said.

"Emma walked a few steps behind him and watched on, because clearly there's nothing hotter than watching your boyfriend doing errands."

The magazine has confirmed that Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have split but the reason they got back together was "because they realized they loved each other too much to be apart."

On Memorial Day Weekend, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were spotted out on a date also in Los Angeles.

Emma Stone will next be seen playing Allison Ng, a part Asian, part Hawaiian Air Force liason in "Aloha." The actress and the director were accused of whitewashing minorities by ignoring the heritage in the casting.

Cameron Crowe, meanwhile, wrote an apology in his blog, while at the same time appealing to spare Andrew Garfield's girlfriend from the backlash.

He wrote, "Thank you so much for all the impassioned comments regarding the casting of the wonderful Emma Stone in the part of Allison Ng. I have heard your words and your disappointment, and I offer you a heartfelt apology to all who felt this was an odd or misguided casting choice."

"However I am so proud that in the same movie, we employed many Asian-American, Native-Hawaiian and Pacific-Islanders, both before and behind the camera ... including Dennis 'Bumpy' Kanahele, and his village, and many other locals who worked closely in our crew and with our script to help ensure authenticity," he added.

"I am grateful for the dialogue. And from the many voices, loud and small, I have learned something very inspiring. So many of us are hungry for stories with more racial diversity, more truth in representation, and I am anxious to help tell those stories in the future," Cameron Crowe continued.
