Diane Lane Divorced After 8 Years with Josh Brolin, 'It's Not Ugly, It's Just Over'

Power couple Diane Lane and Josh Brolin is divorcing after eight years together.

The couple's representative confirmed the split saying, "We can confirm Dine Lane and Josh Brolin have decided to end their marriage."

No specific reason was provided for the split however a source close to the couple told US Weekly, "It was a mutual decision. It is very amicable It's not ugly, it's just over."

Lane and Brolin married in August 2004, after a one year engagement. This is the second divorce for both. Lane was previously married to Christopher Lambert and divorced in 1994 and has a 19-year-old daughter. Brolin was previously married to actress Alice Adair and has two children.

The couple from the beginning had some difficulties as just months after their marriage; Brolin was arrested for spousal battery. However, no charges were filed and the incident was called a "misunderstanding."

Brolin was arrested for public intoxication on New Year's Day in Santa Monica, California. He paid for a $250 bail and wasn't given a citation for his arrest. Then the following day was spotted without his wedding band.

The two have no children together and the separation was first reported by US Weekly.

"My work life has grown, my relationship with Josh has grown, my responsibilities as a parent grew and changed," Lane said in a previous interview with Redbook magazine. "One day about a year and a half ago, I realized I can't put these responsibilities in a jar and tend to them later, especially when it comes to time with my family. Life isn't 'when the kids get a little older' or 'when Josh and I have the perfect quiet moment alone.' Right now is all we've got."
