Quvenzhane Wallis Is The Youngest Nominee at the 2013 Oscars

The nine-year-old star Quvenzhane Wallis is up for a Best Actress Oscar at this years Academy Awards.

She is the youngest actress to be nominated in this category. Wallis stars in "Beasts of the Southern Wild", as Hushpuppy a young girl who has to rely on her brains and creativity when floodwater threatens her family and her home.

Wallis, who now holds the record as the youngest Oscar nominee ever, walked the red carpet in Armani, while carrying a puppy dog purse.

If she wins the Oscar Wallis will beat out the Tatum O'Neal as the youngest actress to win an Academy Award for acting.

Wallis is no stranger to the award sceen. She has won two other awards, a BFCA Critics Choice Award and a Satellite Special Achievement Award for Outstanding New Talent.

But this little dynamo can do more than just act; she can sing and dance too. Wallis was cast as "Annie" in a new adaptation of the classic Broadway musical.

Will Gluck, who directed Emma Stone in "Easy A", will direct Wallis in the new version of "Annie." The movie is set for a 2014 holiday release.

"Easy A" was a sassy and smart comedy, that highlighted the quick witted Emma Stone. Can we expect the same thing from Wallis in this modern take on the classic orphan tale?
