Kristen Stewart Explains Why She Was Limping To 2013 Oscar Winner Anne Hathaway: 'I'm An Idiot, But Congratulations.'

You may have noticed Kristen Stewart limping onstage at the 2013 Oscars.

Stewart was limping because of a cut on her foot, the "Twilight" actress explained to Anne Hathaway backstage at the 2013 Oscar Awards, after the Best Supporting Actress winner noticed her crutches.

"Oh no!" Hathaway said eying Kristen's crutches, according to the Associated Press.

"I know, I'm an idiot," Stewart said as Hathaway clutched her Oscar. "But congratulations!"

Hathaway is a 2013 Oscar winner for playing the role of Fantine in the film adaptation of the musical "Les Miserables." The character is a single mother forced into prostitution in order to provide for her child.

"Please tell me you're going on stage with those [crutches]," Hathaway said playfully to Kristen during their backstage exchange Sunday night.

"Nope," Stewart replied. "I'm gonna hobble."

Kristen's manicurist Ashlie Johnson told Us that Kristen was in real pain.

"She had sliced her foot [on broken glass] and everyone was worrying about would she wear heels or flats or one heel, crutches or no crutches," Johnson said. "She tried so many options, she was really a trouper."

Hairstylist Danillo said Stewart needed to psych herself up before attending the 2013 Oscars.

"Kristen was nervous about her crutches so having her friends around playing music was just what she needed," hairstylist Danilo said. "We all were trying to make her feel better and her friends were trying to tell her she'd be fine, she has insecurities about being in front of people so today was even tougher."

Hathaway was considered a shoe in for a 2013 Oscar, after her jaw dropping one-take performance of "I Dreamed A Dream" in "Les Miserables." Hathaway's performance, like all of the singing in the film, was recorded live as the film was being shot.

"I had a dream," Hathaway told reporters at the 2013 Oscars press line, before the Best Supporting Actress winner started to cry. "And it came true. And it can happen. And it's wonderful."
