Kris Wu And Luhan Ranked Among China's Richest Celebrities For Earnings Since Leaving EXO

Former EXO members Kris and Luhan may be tied up in a lawsuit with SM Entertainment, but thankfully for their fans in China, that hasn't stopped the pair from working.

In fact, it would appear that Kris and Luhan have been working extremely hard since their departure from K-pop group EXO. According to reports, the pair of Chinese artists were both featured on Forbes China's list of richest celebrities. Luhan graced the cover of the magazine and was ranked number 37. Meanwhile, Kris was ranked number 42.

Kris and Luhan's earnings in China seem to confirm the previously projected reason as to why they decided to leave EXO:

"At least 20-30 Chinese celebrities make approximately 100 million yuan (approximately $17.5 million) a year. However the income of Korean celebrities is far less. So if an artist has to choose a market to work in, the answer is quite obvious," said Chinese entertainment expert Wang (via Koreaboo).

Koreaboo reports that Kris and Luhan's earnings are estimated to be slowly approaching that 100 million yuan mark. Luhan secured his 37th rank by garnering 28.5 million yuan ($4.6 million U.S. dollars). Kris secured his 42nd spot by grabbing 26.5 million yuan ($4.2 million U.S. dollars).

As for the status of their lawsuit with SM Entertainment, mediation has been at a standstill. Kris and Luhan reportedly agreed to immediate mediation while SM Entertainment declined the compulsory mediation issued by the court.

Despite the ongoing lawsuit, Kris and Luhan are clearly managing to thrive with activities in China. Hopefully their success in China will eventually be met with a fair settlement with SM Entertainment.
