V Festival Announces Artist Lineup: Beyoncé, Kings Of Leon To Headline British Rock Festival This August [VIDEO]

V Festival tickets go on sale this Friday, March 1.

On Monday, the promoters of the rock music V Festival that takes place in two different parks in England one weekend in August announced that Super Bowl fuse-blower Beyoncé and radio-friendly rock band Kings of Leon would headline the festival.

"With our line-up already boasting acts including Beyonce, Kings Of Leon and Emeli Sande, the 18th annual V Festival is once again set to be an unmissable weekend,"

V Festival director Simon Moran told British publication the Braintree & Witham Times. "We have a reputation for bringing fans the best world class acts and breakthrough artists, 2013 is set to be another sensational year."

The V Festival is comprised of two simultaneous shows at Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in South Staffordshire on August 17 and 18. The artist's switch off locations the second night, so that the same lineup of performers plays at both venues.

Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker got the idea for the V Festival in 1996, when he decided he would like to play two outdoor shows in two days.

Pulp's promoters put together the first V Festival that year for one day in Victoria Park and two days at Hylands Park where there was also camping offered.

By that point Cocker's wistful idea had ballooned into a fully formed rock festival. And one that was to become an annual tradition.

In 1999, the Northern leg of the festival was moved to Weston Park in Staffordshire where it has remained.

Former bands to headline the V Festival include Radiohead, Coldplay and Supergrass.

Other acts confirmed so far for this year's V Festival include Emeli Sande, Two Door Cinema Club, Olly Murs, Paloma Faith, Stereophonics, Calvin Harris, Basement Jaxx, The Courteeners, FUN., Ellie Goulding, Jason Mraz, Deacon Blue, Travis, Ocean Colour Scene, The Fratellis, Maximo Park, Kendrick Lamar, Rudimental, Of Monsters And Men, Gabrielle Aplin and Laura Mvula.

Promoters say more additions to the V Festival lineup are to be announced in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Tickets go on sale Friday at 9 a.m. at www.VFestival.com.
