Judge in Oscar Pistorius Case Finds Out His Cousin Killed Two Sons And Herself

The judge in the Oscar Pistorius murder case found out that his cousin had killed her two sons and herself.

The trial for Oscar Pistorius took an unexpected twist today.

Judge Desmond Nair controversially granted bail to Pistorius and now has found out that someone close to him had killed her two sons and herself.

"I can confirm the deceased is my first cousin," Nair told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.

Authorities believe the woman had the children ingest a pill in which she then ingested that killed all three of them.

"The bodies of a woman and her two sons were found Sunday evening at their Johannesburg home by her ex-husband," police Warrant Officer Balan Muthan told ESPN.

Suicide notes were left, but Muthan declined to comment because these documents will be used as evidence in the ongoing investigation of a possible murder.

Autopsies and toxicology were done Monday to investigate more of what cause these deaths.

This is happening while Pistorius, the double-amputee Olympian who is set to go on trial for the murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

Eyewitness News, a South African media outlet said the boys were 12 and 17 years old. Clair Osment was a neighbor of theirs and ran outside as soon as she heard screaming.

"We asked what happened. The dad just said, 'She has killed my boys.' He was just crying," Eyewitness News quoted her as saying. "He couldn't believe it; he couldn't believe that his sons are gone."

Judge Nair allowed Pistorius to be bailed after being incarcerated. Nair said the prosecutors didn't argue a good enough case that Pistorius would be an endangerment if bailed. He also said Pistorius accounts of what took place, claiming he thought it was an intruder when he shot and killed his girlfriend from inside his bathroom.

Nair has judged other famous trails, which included the 2008 conviction on fraud charges of Sydney Maree. The South African took American citizenship and became a track star in the United States. There was also a 2011 plea agreement in which rugby player Bees Roux received a five-year suspended prison sentence for the beating death of a policeman; and inquiries into alleged misconduct by magistrates around South Africa.

Last week, the chief investigator in the case against Pistorius, Hilton Botha, was removed from the inquiry. It was revealed that Botha's charges for attempted murder against him had been reinstated in early February. In 2011, an incident occurred in which Botha and two other police officers allegedly fired on a minibus.

According to the brother of Pistorius, Carl, had a charge against him reinstated. Carl was charged for the negligent killing of a 2008 road death before it was dropped.

This trial has already had some eye-catching moments and continues to draw more and more attention before the trial gets underway.
