Affleck Shaves Beard Post Oscars 2013 Best Picture Win; After Affleck’s Heartfelt Speech, Wife Jennifer Garner Brings Him Clippers

Ben Affleck shaves his beard to celebrate his win of the Best Picture Oscar for "Argo" this past Sunday at an Academy Award West Hollywood after party.

He decided it was time to get rid of his "good luck beard" after winning the night's most coveted award. Affleck shaved his beard to celebrate the success of his film "Argo."

The 40-year-old actor and director shaved his facial hair to mark "the end of a chapter" at George Clooney's after-party at Craig's Restaurant in West Hollywood.

Affleck was at the party with "Argo" co-producers George Clooney and Grant Hesloy, and co-star Bryan Cranston.

At the party, Affleck reportedly shaved his beard just hours after he received the Academy's golden statue at the 85th Academy Awards.

Allegedly, some partygoers were able to help Ben Affleck as he trimmed away his good luck charm.

A source that spoke to E! News claimed that Affleck, husband of Jennifer Garner and father of three, decided to get rid of the beard as a toast to new beginnings.

The insider said, "He did it to mark the end of a chapter. It had that ceremonial quality to it."

According to a different source, "The whole family was tired of the beard!" The insider told Us Weekly that Garner and Affleck's children "actually brought the clippers to the party."

In an earlier ceremony, Affleck acknowledged his wife and marriage in his acceptance speech for winning Best Picture.

His voice cracked as he thanked his wife, Jennifer Garner, for 'working' on their marriage. "I want to thank my wife...for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases. It is work, but it's the best kind of work. And there's no one I'd rather work with."

Affleck continued, "I was here 15 years ago or something, and had no idea what I was doing. I stood out here in front of you all, really just a kid and I went out and I never thought I'd be back here. And I am."

Affleck was referring to his 1997 win of Best Original Screenplay for "Good Will Hunting."

He added in his speech, "Because of so many of you that are here tonight. Because of the Academy. Because of so many wonderful people who extended themselves to me when they had nothing to benefit from it."

Affleck also thanked his children for the award. To close, he said, "Violet, Sera and Sam, I love you. This is for you."
