Nick Jonas Slams Crossfit's Diabetes Remarks, Fitness Company Backs Down?

Nick Jonas' Crossfit rant did not seem to shoot down the company after it reportedly tweeted some joke about diabetes.

On Monday, according to People, Crossfit CEO Greg Glassman posted on Twitter a made-up Coke ad bearing the phrase "open diabetes."

The post was captioned "make sure you pour some out for your dead homies."

Nick Jonas, who has Type 1 diabetes, immediately expressed his anger towards the fitness company for the apparently insensitive lines.

Jonas was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 13 as reported by Entertainment Tonight.

"This is not cool," Nick Jonas' Crossfit rant started.

"Please know and understand the difference between type one and type diabetes before making ignorant comments," he wrote. "Sensitivity to all diseases, and proper education on the cause and day to day battle is important."

Aside from Nick Jonas, other Twitter users also expressed their dismay versus Crossfit.

"Sugar does not cause diabetes. You insult millions of people with your tweet," user Diabetes Hero Squad said.

"Seriously, This is an insult to millions," user Andi Eveslage insisted. "Sugar does not, cannot, will not cause diabetes. Educate yourself."

Regardless of these reactions from people and Nick Jonas, Crossfit did not seem to want to back down from their stand.

"Anyone can get T2 diabetes, even those with T1," they insisted despite the Nick Jonas Crossfit rant.

"Stop assuming we don't grasp the difference and help us raise awareness," they further said in the post meant for Jonas.

Crossfit went on to post links to journals for their stand. They also posted on their Facebook account to clarify some things.

"Please know that when we point to big-soda products causing diabetes, we are referring to Type 2 diabetes," the Facebook post said. "Our Coca-Cola parody on Twitter is meant to mock a company that distorts health science by funding nearly all of the organizations we expect to protect us from disease."

News about Nick Jonas' Crossfit rant on Twitter has since gone viral and is still the headlines of news reports.
