Adam Lambert Reveals Influence Behind New Album; 'American Idol' Claims End Not In Sight For Queen Collaboration

"American Idol" alum Adam Lambert talked about his inspiration for his new album, "The Original High," as he promised that his collaboration with Queen will continue as long as fans want them.

In an interview with Toronto Sun, he said that he wanted to "wipe the slate clean" with his new album.

"I think it's really easy in all the entertainment industries where you can get trapped within a type or a persona or a genre, that's not my style to get stuck anywhere. So I wanted to start clean, start fresh and come up with something new, surprise people," the Queen frontman said.

As to what music has been the inspiration for the "American Idol" alum for his new album, Adam Lambert said:

"I mean the '90s house revival right now is making my life because it reminds me of when I first heard dance music when I was a kid and loving it and I remember hearing C&C Music Factory and Crystal Waters and Soul II Soul and Two Unlimited and all these groups where these songs were so cool."

"And I also like them because no one in my family was listening to dance music. My dad was not into dance music... My dad's into '70s rock stuff," Adam Lambert added about his new album's inspiration.

Meanwhile, Adam Lambert said that he will continue to front Queen as long as Brian May and Roger Taylor-as well as their fans-want him.

"We have a great time together and I think at the end of the day, we love getting onstage and feeling victorious," he said. "And feeling like we've given the audience a great show and it went well. And that's the universal idea there."

"And the shows were so well received and the audiences were so thrilled and up on their feet at every show, I think we knew that we had stumbled onto something really special and why not keep doing it."

In another interview with Blabber Mouth, Adam Lambert said of being the frontman for Queen, "It's interesting, though, because I've heard people say, 'Oh, you're the new lead singer for QUEEN.'"

"And it's, like, well, essentially, yeah. But it's not a permanent position, I don't look at it as. It was billed as QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT, 'cause I feel like it's a collaboration; it's a live collaboration."
