Oreo Separator Invented; Portland Native Invents Hatchet Robot To Separate Cookie From Creme [VIDEO]

An inventor has created an Oreo separator in a new viral marketing campaign by Oreo's parent company, Nabisco.

Oreo is known for clever marketing tactics, and has just given four inventors the task of creating machines that can separate Oreos into two parts: the cookie and the cream. The task is part of the company's new social media marketing campaign.

Fans might remember the example that Oreo released during this year's Superbowl blackout, when an image of an Oreo on a table released with the caption, "You can still dunk in the dark." The image was shared thousands of times by fans of the chocolate crème cookie.

The Oreo marketing team has just released a video highlighting the creation of one creative inventor and cookie aficionado.

The video caption reads, "It's a basic human desire to separate an OREO cookie. Humans love either cookie or crème. And sometimes a man just needs to invent a machine to do the hard work of separating the two."

The first inventor, a Portland Oregon native, developed a hatchet-wielding robotic device to force his Oreos apart.

Dr. David Neeval, "My Oreo separator machine is entirely based on the dislike of crème and preference for cookie."

"I didn't get to see my girlfriend or my dog for hours at a time. There were a lot of sacrifices, I guess," Neeval continued.

The videos are part of Oreo's "Cookie vs. Crème" ad campaign. The Oreo company has also asked cookie-lovers to share photographs of objects that can be shaped into cookie or crème structures.

They have started to release videos to increase viewership and engagement on the Oreo YouTube page.

Oreo brand director Janda Lukin told Mashable, "We know Oreo fans use their hands to separate the cookie from the crème, but wanted to take this ritual one step further by creating ad device that does it for you."
