Fox News talk show host Sean Hannity got more than he bargained for Tuesday night when his guest, Representative Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) insisted he was the "worst excuse for a journalist" he had ever seen.

The insult came less than thirty seconds into the interview.

Ellison came on "The Sean Hannity Show" to discuss cuts in government spending, but his ulterior motive was obvious from the get go.

Hannity stressed that the Democratic Party is good at staying on point to which Ellison responded, "You're pretty good at it too. Quite frankly, you are the worst excuse for a journalist I've ever seen. It's absurd that you - the worst."

Prior to the congressman's appearance on the show Hannity played a clip of President Obama with music Ellison considered to be suggestive.

The representative went on to insist that Hannity was "deceptive" and called Hannity out by saying, "What you just displayed was not journalism; it was yellow journalism. It wasn't anything close to trying to tell the American people what's really going on."

Hannity, a conservative political commentator, allowed the congressman to continue his ranting for some time before interjecting by encouraging Ellison to continue his rant. The Minnesota Democrat added to his laundry list of complaints by adding that Hannity was "ridiculous" and "a shameless... Republican."

Hannity, like other hosts appearing on the Fox News network, is known for an interview style that bombards guests with questions and catches them off guard. Ellison was able to turn the tables when he came out swinging.

The Democrat went on the insist the talk show host had broken "every journalistic ethic I've ever heard of."

Eventually Hannity put a stop to Ellison's attack, ending the interview by ascertaining "Congressman, you are a total waste of time."

Keith Ellison is a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor, which is affiliated with Minnesota state Democratic Party. He is also the first Muslim to be elected to the US Congress and the first African-American representative from Minnesota. He is recognized for being outspokenly opposed to many of the Bush Administration's actions and policies.
