JYP Entertainment Finalizes Lineup For New Girl Group Twice

JYP Entertainment's next girl group will be Twice as nice.

JYP Entertainment's upcoming girl group Twice was revealed on Tuesday. The members were chosen from the survival television show "Sixteen," which aired on Korea's Mnet. Out of the 16 original candidates, nine members were chosen to debut under the name Twice.

Twice is JYP's first girl group since miss A debuted in 2010, and the largest girl group JYP Entertainment has ever managed.

The name "Twice," stylized as TWICE, was chosen for the girl group because JYP promises that they will be "wowing their fans once through their ears and twice through their eyes."

Twice will be made up of Nayeon, Jungyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu.

Five members are from South Korea, three are Japanese, and one is Taiwanese. The oldest member is Nayeon (Im Na Yeon,) and was born in 1995, while Taiwanese member Tzuyu was born in 1999. Momo, Sana, and Mina are Japanese.

Twice initially planned to include only seven members, to match JYP Entertainment's male group Got7, but the final line-up includes nine women. The sixteen trainees competed in different groups throughout the Mnet series. Member Momo was initially eliminated, but JYP Entertainment included her in the final lineup thanks to her talent as a performer.

Prior to the competition, several members of Twice appeared in music videos of JYP Entertainment artists.

After the announcement of the final lineup, JYP revealed Twice's logo, an orange T intertwined with a W.

Twice will include hip hop elements in their songs, and will allegedly debut by the end of 2015.

JYP Entertainment previously debuted popular Korean female acts like Wonder Girls, miss A, and 15&.
