July Is Set To Be Most Memorable Month For K-Pop In 2015

Big Bang, Girls' Generation, Super Junior, INFINITE, Girl's Day, Beast...

As new acts join the K-pop scene each year, the genre has become more saturated and more competitive. Due to the size of the industry, more and more popular K-pop acts try to avoid going up against equally or more popular groups. But this July, the pique of the summer season, has seen more comebacks from K-pop's top idol groups than the K-pop world has seen in quite some time.

With the tough competition, this July is the busiest month of 2015 for K-pop.

Less than halfway through the month, K-pop's biggest idol stars already released music, including ones from the top three Korean entertainment companies.

Kicking off July much as they had kicked off May and June, YG Entertainment's quintet Big Bang released dual singles, "If You" and "Sober."

SM Entertainment's top girl group Girls' Generation released "Party" several days later, and the company announced that one of its most popular male groups, Super Junior, would release a celebratory tenth anniversary song, "Devil," in the second half of the month. Girls' Generation is set to release two more songs this summer.

Following in the footsteps of YG and SM, the third largest Korean entertainment company JYP Entertainment also announced a comeback from boy band GOT7, who will make a comeback on July 13 with "Just Right."

Popular girl group Girl's Day released "Ring My Bell" on July 6 and quickly shot up Korean music charts, and a competing girl group, Apink, will release "Remember" on July 16. AOA and Sistar released new songs on June 22, which are also still competing for top spots on Korean music charts.

INFINITE and Beast, two other popular K-pop acts, will also release music in July. INFINITE's "Reality" album is set for a July 13 release date, while Beast's comeback has yet to be announced.

Many other girl groups, including 9Muses, Poten, Hellovenus, Sonamoo, Friend, and Stellar also have released or announced plans to make comebacks in July, increasing the girl group competition for the month.

From soloists,  Tiger JK's "I Know" was released on July 2, while Crush's "Oasis," featuring Block B's Zico, was released on July 9 and quickly went to number one on multiple Korean music charts. July 14 will see a solo debut from KARA's Goo Hara with the song "Choco Chip Cookie," and July 17 will see a comeback from Jay Park.

With multiple chart-topping hits already released, and expectant comebacks from many other popular acts, the rest of 2015 will have a lot to live up to.
