Imagine Dragons' 'Radioactive' Diamond Status Confirmed, Details On The Feat Here!

Imagine Dragons' song "Radioactive" has become a diamond record.

According to a report on Yahoo!, the song was awarded "diamond digital success" by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after it has reached more than 10 million sales and streams.

The same status has been awarded before to Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance," Justin Bieber's "Baby" and Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie" and "Not Afraid."

News of the American rock band's achievement was announced on Tuesday. The band was overwhelmed with the accomplishment.

"Unreal," they wrote on Twitter.

"'Radioactive' just went DIAMOND.... huge thanks to our fans and the @RIAA," they also said.

Aside from fans, Universal Music also sent their congratulations to the band.

"Congrats @Imaginedragons on your Digital Diamond Award from @RIAA!" Universal Music posted on Twitter.

As reported by Billboard, the RIAA gives an album or single a diamond status when it has reached platinum 10 times or has been sold for 10 million times. But in May, the rules changed when RIAA decided to recognize streaming from the likes of Youtube and Spotify to the count. In the new way of counting, 100 streams or views was "equivalent to one download."

"Including music streaming in Gold & Platinum awards marks the continued evolution of the industry's premier program for recognizing artistic achievement, and it reflects the wide spectrum of ways consumers enjoy music from their favorite bands," RIAA Chairman & CEO Cary Sherman explained back then.

"The music business, along with its incredible array of digital service partners, is offering fans more access to music than ever before," he added.

"We're thrilled that our awards will now more fully recognize artists' commercial success today," he further said.

7.7 million tracks of Imagine Dragons' 'Radioactive' has been sold according to Nielsen SoundScan as cited by Billboard. It's video on Youtube has been viewed more than 360 million times.
