INFINITE Share Their Secret To Combating The 'Five Year Curse'

Having just celebrated their fifth anniversary since debut, INFINITE took a moment to talk about the "five year curse" at their recent comeback showcase for Reality, their fifth EP.

The "five year curse" is the fear that idol groups will become unsuccessful after five years and either break up or end up in serious scandal. For example, popular groups like TVXQ, SS501, and most recently MBLAQ have all experienced issues within their groups during their fifth year after debut.

"We don't really think about that," member Sungyeol began when asked about the "curse," according to XSports News. "Teamwork is what helps everything work out. We put more focus on getting along."

"The seven of us like different music genres so we can put out better results as artists. And through units and solos we can achieve these different types of music which is one of the reasons we can stay together as a group this long (without worry)," Dongwoo added.

Member Woohyun also took a moment to talk about how the fans have helped their longevity. "We always need our fans by our side," he explained in an article by TV Report. "We have a lot of events so we can stay with the fans, which we plan to continue."

"We have always been a group that puts on a lot of concerts," leader Sunggyu continued, "We love concerts and since our debut we wanted to be the group who is known for live performances. We hope to keep this image up."

INFINITE will definitely continue to indulge their fans in concerts with the start of their second world tour coming up in August. INFINITE will kick off their tour in Seoul on August 8 and 9 before taking their performance all around the world. Until then, the group is promoting their latest comeback mini-album Reality and its title track "Bad."
