LeeSsang 2015 Comeback Song 'Kaleidoscope' Tops Major Music Charts Despite Steep Competition [AUDIO]

In a sea of major girl groups like Girls' Generation, SISTAR, and AOA, it's hard to imagine what once was an underground hip-hop group would be able to compete on the music charts.

LeeSsang is however in a class of their own.

After a more than two-year hiatus, hip-hop duo LeeSsang has returned with a digital single entitled "Kaleidoscope." The new song, which also features singing by Mi Woo, managed to snag the top spot on several major music charts in Korea, despite being in competition with plenty of major K-pop groups. Fans can check out the new song below.

LeeSsang's comeback song "Kaleidoscope" was announced earlier this month. Unfortunately, the song will reportedly not be promoted by group members Gil and Gary.

"LeeSsang will reveal a digital single on July 15. Once releasing their song, they do not have plans to promote on broadcast. The priority is to release the new music they have prepared to their fans," said a LeeSsang Company representative (via Allkpop).

As for which music charts LeeSsang is currently dominating, Koreaboo reports that "Kaleidoscope" is number one on Naver Music, Genie, Olleh, Soribada, and Monkey 3.

Part of the reason for the delay in the latest music from LeeSsang comes from a self-imposed hiatus by member Gil. After being charged with a DUI in April 2014, the rapper removed himself from the public eye, including taking a brief hiatus from reality show "Infinity Challenge."

A representative from the LeeSsang Company explained Gil's hesitance to make comeback earlier this year.

"He's recently been out of the news, but he's been meeting with fans on the stage through events. He's been continuously working on his album as well, but it's true he's wary about making a comeback. We don't know when he'll come back yet," said the LeeSsang Company Rep.

Despite the long wait for the comeback, it looks like LeeSsang still has the ability to impress audiences.
