TASTY Announce Departure From Woollim Entertainment On Social Media, Agency Fires Back

The twins of TASTY, Woollim Entertainment's duo group, made a shocking announcement on their Weibo on Wednesday.

On July 15 the duo posted on the Chinese social media site Weibo, announcing major changes in their career path.

"Hello everyone, this is Daeryong and Soryong," the post began. "We are a Chinese group that debuted under the name "TASTY" in Korea."

"We want to announce the end of our 8 year life here in Korea," the message continued. "A lot of things have happened between us and our company. This decision was made after a long period of contemplation. We believe that those who continually support us will understand our decision."

"Just because our life in Korea has ended does not mean that our music has ended," the duo assured their followers. "We will never stop creating music."

Woollim Entertainment, it would appear, has a different take on the matter.

"TASTY have never discussed halting their promotions in Korea with the executives of [Woollim Entertainment]," said a representative for the company, as reported by Allkpop. "We only talked about activities that would follow their comeback."

"As for the selection of title tracks, that is of course the responsibility of the company. What's important here is that despite never having discussed halting their promotions in Korea, they have left for China and cut off contact with the agency."

"TASTY are once again laying out excuses through SNS," another Woollim rep is reported to have said. "Even as of right now, they won't directly talk to anyone in the agency. They won't answer our calls, and they just keep posting things on SNS."

"What we want is a conversation with the two members of TASTY," the rep continued. "However, they are blocking that. They keep responding with excuses. They never mentioned anything about leaving for China. Everything they have been doing has been decided on one-sidedly."

In response to the agency's claims, the TASTY brother fired back in two reactionary tweets.

"What do you mean we didn't tell you and disappeared? Then what is it that we talked about with all the executives and CEO before?" the pair asked in the first tweet, as translated by Allkpop. "What we can't understand is we sufficiently explained our position and the company said they understood us. But now you come and say it like as if we unilaterally decided to disappear. We can't understand this."

"What do you mean the recording for our new song was finished?" the second TASTY tweet reply began. "Who was it that picked the song without listening to our opinions and told us that if we didn't accept this new song as our title track that our comeback may be pushed back to who knows when? We are the type who don't like to talk about each and every little thing, but it seems the time has now come for us to do so."

Stay tuned for more updates on this story as further details become available.

TASTY debuted under Woollim Entertainment in 2012 with "You Know Me." The duo made two comebacks in 2013 with "MAMAMA" and "Day n Night." They also released a single album in Chinese in 2014.
