K-pop Review: Good Bye by Dasoni

When I first got wind of EXID's plan to debut a sub unit group, I was thinking an epic duo with LE and Solji. To my surprise, and disappointment, my guess was only 50% right.

Hani and Solji made their debut as Dasoni about a week after the announcement of their formation, and as expected, it was lackluster. As I watched their MV for "Good Bye," I couldn't help but think AB saw this coming trend of sub unit groups and thought they just had to have piece of it. If that was the reasoning behind this group...big mistake. The video looked rushed with its set decorated in almost cliche Asian accessories, plus the song was not even close to being as wonderful a song as EXID's 2012 masterpiece, "Every Night." AB Entertainment clearly didn't put enough thought into this debut or they would have realized all the things wrong with this pairing, and all the things right with mine. First off, unlike the other sub unit groups of 2013, Dasoni's members are fresh faced in the industry, neither originally debuted with EXID, and so neither has made their stamp...yet. Second, the obvious point, LE. She is where the group's money is at. She is the rapper. She would bring some balance to this group, and take away the Davichi-esque vibes of the song and video. Plus she was around long before the group, so she has her own little fan base to bring to the sub unit's table. I know what your going to say. She's about to debut with Yong Junhyung and FeelDog for "Absurd." Yes, I know, which is why this debut could have been pushed back to AFTER those promotions, and AFTER EXID's comeback. Like this pairing, the song was pretty much sucky, its one postive was that it reminded me of Davichi's "My Man."
Final Score: 2.5/5
