YG Entertainment's Yang Hyun Suk Announces iKON's Debut Date For September

During an interview with Korean media outlets, YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk allegedly revealed the debut date of the company's highly anticipated new idol group, iKON.

The male idol group will debut on September 15, Yang said in an interview. iKON's debut will come shortly after YG Entertainment's senior act Big Bang wraps up their last series of 'MADE' releases on September 1.

Fans of iKON have awaited anxiously for news regarding the boy band.

"We haven't been able to rest because Big Bang is releasing new music every month until September 1," Yang told the interviewer, according to Osen. "It's not easy to film two music videos each time. So we had no choice but to keep iKON and Big Bang from promoting at the same time. They [iKON] will debut on September 15."

iKON is a K-pop boy band produced by YG Entertainment. The members of the group were introduced through two YG Entertainment survival shows, "Who Is Next: WIN" and "Mix & Match." The final lineup of iKON includes 7 members. Members B.I and Bobby gained much acclaim for featuring on songs by YG Entertainment artists Epik High and Masta Wu.

"There is great significance for YG to have them debut after Big Bang's promotions, since they are a hip-hop boy group," Yang said, emphasizing the importance of timing iKON's debut.

He also explained that their intitial debut was pushed off so that iKON can create and release the best music possible.

The debut of iKON was slated for 2015, and previously Yang stated that no YG Entertainment artists would promote new music until Big Bang's comeback was finished. Big Bang began promoting their "MADE" album series on May 1, and have released two songs and music videos at the beginning of each month. The final release will be on September 1.

During the interview, Yang also promised that YG Entertainment's previous male idol group, WINNER, will come out with exceptional music in the future.
