Music Video Producer For Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood' Responds To 2NE1 Plagarism Accusations

After major media outlets picked up alleged plagiarism claims regarding Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" music video, the director of that video fired back on Twitter on Wednesday.

Joseph Kahn, the director of Taylor Swift's music video, took to Twitter to deny charges of plagiarizing 2NE1's "Come Back Home" video. The claims were circulated on Twitter following a spat between Nicki Minaj and Swift, and several American media outlets picked up the topic.

Kahn denied all claims of plagiarizing on Twitter, and expressed anger towards people assuming that because he has Korean blood he keeps track of K-pop.

"[A] writer of JEZEBEL accused me of ripping off a Korean music video because I was 'born in South Korea,'" read Kahn's first tweet on July 23. "WHAT THE F-K. REALLY???"

"Come Back Home" was released in 2014 by 2NE1, one of South Korea's most popular K-pop groups. "Bad Blood" was Swift's hugely popular music video released earlier this year.

Additional tweets from the director continued to express anger towards Jezebel, Billboard, and Gawker for picking up the story. Kahn explained that the original quote relating to his Korean roots were picked from an article in the Korea Times, and related to his heritage and not K-pop.

"If you hit me with in head with a bottle kimchi I wouldn't know a single K-pop song in the last 5 years," Kahn tweeted. "Too busy listening to Anaconda."

The music video for Minaj's song "Anaconda" was the indirect reason for the incident; Minaj and Swift's grew out of Minaj expressing sadness because her record-breaking music video hadn't been nominated for video of the year by the MTV VMAs (Video Music Awards.)

Kahn continued to tweet about the incident for several hours, and called himself a "victim" in regards to the allegations. He denied all claims of copying 2NE1's music video and instead explained his inspiration.

"FYI [for your information]: city, car, futuristic masks, body scanning," explained Kahn. "These are common SCI FI TROPES. Flare From Alien 3. Also, stop recropping to match shots."
