K-pop Crossover: Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood' Director And YG Entertainment Respond To 2NE1 Plagiarism Allegations

After the allegations against Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" music video for allegedly copying 2NE1's "Come Back Home" gained traction in the public, both sides have chosen to respond to the matter.

On Wednesday, "Bad Blood" director Joseph Kahn took to Twitter to respond to the allegation against him and Taylor Swift, dismissing it entirely.

"If you hit me in the head with a bottle of kimchi I wouldn't know a single K-pop song in the last five years," tweeted Kahn. "Too busy listening to 'Anaconda.'"

In his series of tweets, Kahn specifically targeted a Jezebel article for sparking the allegations, and reportedly lodged a complaint regarding the piece.

"The implication your writer is making is explicit: I am a foreigner born overseas and I am trying to reconnect with my birth country and have obvious motive to copy it," wrote Kahn.

"I do not listen to K-pop. I am American. And this is an unethical, slandering article."

On Thursday, representative from YG Entertainment has responded to the controversy as well.

"I saw the oversea press releases and happened to stumble upon the issue among the stories regarding foreign artists but I have nothing to say," said the rep according to allkpop.

Perhaps the record label is too busy planning 2NE1's next comeback, 17 months since their last release.

According to YG-Life, 2NE1 is considering releasing a new song "by next year at [the] latest."

"It has been 17 months that the group has not released any new song due to various reasons such as the members' individual schedule," said the post. "However, they are still very much missed by fans who recently made a SNS page dedicated to [Park Bom] to upload her recent photos."
