Talent search show "The Voice" has some issues to clear two months before its season 9 airs. Adam Weiner of Low Cut Connie from Philadelphia has claimed that the show was all a set-up.

"A couple months ago the TV show "The Voice" contacted our agent and said they wanted to cast me," he wrote on Facebook last Tuesday. "I spoke to them a couple times and they told me that they had seen everything they needed to see, no need to audition, and that I simply needed to get to LA in about ten days' time to shoot for a month or more, depending on how far I got in the contest."

"The Voice is entirely "pre-cast" and they had an opening they wanted to fill with me," he noted.

Weiner even went on and told Digital Music News that at first he was offered to join season 10 but later on was offered a spot for "The Voice" season 9 as someone else had dropped out. In the interview, he also explained that he turned down the offer because of his beliefs.

"I don't think they benefit working musicians and artists (other than the judges themselves) and I don't think they add anything useful or compelling to our culture," he said.

But in a report on Fox News, a source insisted that Weiner just misinterpreted the offer made to him. The source even claimed that Weiner did audition and was given dates to perform in front of the celebrity judges but chose to reportedly pass it up.

"The contractual and musical limitations of the show's format are pretty well known, as is its pre-cast audition process," the musician told Fox News. "I don't necessarily think this makes the show 'fake' and I'm definitely not the first person to make reference to their casting process or heinous contracts."

NBC has yet to release a statement to address Weiner's claims.

"The Voice" season 9 with guest judges Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine will be back on air on Sept. 21, according to its Twitter account.
