This weekend's Otakon was full of plenty excitement for anime and manga fans alike. Luckily for those of us who were unable to attend the event, the internet has now made announcements almost instantaneous.

Or, at least much faster than they used to be.

One of those announcements from Funimation was that the "Psycho-Pass" movie is now officially set to be released in North American theaters. There is no specific date yet, but fans can look for the movie with official English subtitles some time in 2016.

Funimation blogger Lauren relayed the announcement about the "Psycho-Pass" movie on their official website.

"Fire up your dominators, FUNimation is excited to announce that PSYCHO-PASS: The Movie will be coming to theaters in 2016," said Lauren.

So far, fans are responding to the announcement with excitement.

"I can't wait to watch Psycho-Pass: The Movie, I tried to watch the Japanese version, but I can't find it anywhere on the internet," said Animefan850.

The "Psycho-Pass" movie first premiered in Jan. 9 in Japan. It opened at the fourth spot in the box office and grossed over $2.08 million. The film was then released Singapore from June 26 to June 28.

For those who are not familiar with the "Psycho-Pass" franchise, Funimation provides the following synopsis of the first season of the series:

"In the future, even just thinking about a crime is enough to make you guilty - and justice is dispensed from the barrel of a gun. Detectives work in teams made up of Enforcers and Inspectors. Enforcers take out the bad guys, and Inspectors make sure their partners don't cross the fine line between good and evil."

The description continues:

"The great equalizer in the war against thugs is the Dominator, a futuristic weapon that can read minds and assess the probability that a citizen will turn criminal. There are no trials. Only Enforcers, Inspectors, and the Dominator. Commit a crime in your mind - and the Dominator will make sure you pay the ultimate price."
