Justin Timberlake Mocks Hugo Chavez As He Hosts SNL For The 5th Time

In his opening skit on Saturday Night Live this week, five time host Justin Timberlake dressed as Elton John and mocked the late Hugo Chavez.

Impersonating Elton John singing 'Candle in the Win', Timberlake says, "I should confess I didn't know Hugo Chavez very well, but as the saying goes, hey a gig is a gig."

As Timberlake sang his song there were photos and videos of Chavez rolling above Timberlake's shoulder.

"Everything in this song is true," Timberlake said.

In the song Timberlake took on topics such as Chavez calling George Bush "the devil" at the United Nations. He also mentioned Chavez pulling out two pistols at a press conference he was speaking at.

"And it seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind. If a candle could pull out two pistols at a press conference," Timberlake sang.

Timberlake also mentioned some of the more ridiculous notions that Chavez made during his Presidency, regarding the Unites States, Coke Zero and Mars.

"And you said the US caused earthquakes and you outlawed Coke Zero. On your shoulders stood your parrot, with a matching red beret...and another thing you said was capitalism killed Mars. Yes you believed in a civilization that existed on the surface of Mars but capitalism killed it all."

Timberlake continued with his song and ended it with the classic phrase, "Live from New York it's Saturday night."

The audience laughed throughout the entire song, cheering at the end.

Hugo Chavez died from cancer at the age of 58. Despite his suppression of freedom of speech in Venezuela he was popular among the nation's poor.
