Kevin Durant News: Former MVP Expected To Be 100% By August; Will He Opt Out Next Season?

Two of the biggest questions surrounding former MVP Kevin Durant as of the moment are when will he fully recover from his injury and if he will re-sign with the OKC Thunder once his contract is up.

Fortunately, OKC fans can expect their MVP to be back as early as August according to Daily Thunder's Royce Young

"We're close to Phase 3 now. There's three phases in the rehab. It's going well. I'm shooting, jumping when I'm shooting, not quite running and cutting yet, but I'm almost there. It's going well. I'm excited. ... There's no pain and looking forward to getting back," Durant said.

The MVP is expected to return with a lot to prove as last season, many young stars emerged to the title of second best player in the league in Anthony Davis, Steph Curry, and James Harden. Per Royce Young, Durant admitted that he should not really part of the conversation last season but the next one will be a different story.

"It used to piss me off, but I love it now. Just gotta show and prove," Durant told Young. "I don't deserve to be up there with them this year. Next year is a different story. ... Sometimes you gotta remind people what you do. They tend to forget."

Looking at the second question, will Durant leave OKC for his hometown, Washington? His best friend, Damion James said that Durant will go wherever he thinks will give him the best chances of winning.

"The one thing I know about my brother is he wants to win," said Damion James via Washington Post. "He'll do whatever it takes to win. Whoever gives him the best chance to win is where he's going to end up."

The OKC Thunder has Russell Westbrook, Serge Ibaka, and Enes Kanter as their other centerpieces while the Wizards have John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Marcin Gortat. Which team can provide Durant the best supporting cast? Stay tuned.
