Blink 182 Hitting Studio This August With Matt Skiba; Is The Alkaline Trio Frontman Already A Permanent Member?

Blink-182 is due to hit the studio next month with new member Matt Skiba.

Skiba signed up this year to play live shows after drummer Travis Barker and bassist Mark Hoppus announced their split with founding member Tom Delonge after he reportedly refused to record material with the group.

Skiba, 39, previously explained to NME that he doesn't consider himself to be a permanent member yet. Although, he mentioned that recording an album with Blink 182 would seal the deal.

"I think it's too soon to know," he said back in April. "I'm about to go on an Alkaline Trio tour for a couple months. There's some time and some things that those guys need to figure out before we can start saying I'm a permanent member. But that is a hope of mine. If we're discussing recording an album, I think that seals the deal."

This month Hoppus confirmed with Billboard that they are entering the studio with Skiba this August. He did not mention, however, if they will be recording a new album, or, if Skiba is already a permanent member.

An excerpt of the report reads below.

"In the meantime, Hoppus continues with Blink-182. He said the threesome -- with Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba replacing guitarist Tom DeLonge -- will head back into the studio in August."

Hoppus recently scored his first film, collaboration with famed engineer James Ingram, who not to be mistaken with the "Somewhere Out There Singer." The 42 year-old bassist scored the four-minute-stop-motion short film "I'm Scared, which was directed by Pete Levin, Musa Brooker, Dan Levy, and Levin. The film is based on the artwork of Greg "Craola" Simkins.

Delonge, on the other hand, recently collaborated with a writer for a series of sci-fi novels. Writer Suzanne Young will be releasing books that are accompanied by an EP of instrumentals recorded by Delonge's current band, Angels and Airwaves.
