Ex-Girlfriend Of Kim Hyun Joong Withdraws Lawsuit Against Kim's Lawyers

The ex-girlfriend of one Korean celebrity continues to fight a complicated legal battle, but will drop one lawsuit.

The woman, known in the Korean media only by her surname Choi, dropped her lawsuit against Lee Jae Man, the lawyer of K-pop idol Kim Hyun Joong. Choi and Kim, the leader of idol group SS501 and a popular actor, have been involved in multiple legal battles in recent months, including Choi's previously filed a defamation case against Lee.

Choi dropped the charges against Lee, according to her legal representative, so that the focus of the legal cases would be on revealing the truth behind the relationship between herself and Kim.

Korean media outlet Osen reported that Choi's legal representative, Sun Jong Moon of Sun&Partners, announced that Choi will not only drop the case against Kim's lawyer Lee, but also show restraint regarding other issues. She will respond as necessary regarding all untrue claims made by Kim's side.

In 2014, Choi filed domestic violence charges against Kim. The court case ended after Choi withdrew her assault charges. Kim was fined earlier this year five million won by the court for harming Choi.

However, in 2015, news of Choi being pregnant and having previously suffered a miscarriage, allegedly due to abuse at Kim's hand, led to the two filing multiple damages and defamations lawsuits against one another.

Choi filed defamation charges against both Kim and Lee after releasing a series of text messages that allegedly refuted Kim and Lee's case against her.

Sun ended the statement to the press with the hopes of revealing the truth of Choi and Kim's situation in court, and requested that Kim's side avoid unnecessary interviews with media outlets.

Kim is currently serving in the Korean military. He has denied prior pregnancy and abuse claims.
