AOA Shine In The U.S. Media Spotlight As Rising ‘K-Culture Icons'

Fresh off their appearances at KCON 2015 in Los Angeles and New York, FNC Entertainment girl group AOA continues to make wave in the American media for their musical talent and unique charm.

The members of AOA have found themselves in the spotlight as rising Korean culture icons in recent months with many stateside news outlets reporting on the group's activities around the world.

AOA recently caught the media's attention as the first group to perform at KCON in both Los Angeles and New York this year, the convention's first time expansion to the East Coast. They performed hit tracks such as "Heart Attack," "Like a Cat," and "Short Hair" and mesmerized the tens of thousands of North American K-pop fans who flocked to the annual celebration of 'all things Hallyu.'

Major media outlets such as Billboard, The LA Times, and The New York Times all featured AOA in their coverage of KCON 2015 and wrote about the group's performances.

Fashion magazines such as Vogue and Allure also requested AOA for interviews. While AOA was in the U.S, the group introduced Korean fashion, trends, and beauty tips to readers and situated themselves as Korean culture icons.

"AOA started becoming really popular in the U.S. since 2014," explained a representative from KCON 2015. "People feel that the group has refreshing charms."

"Also, Korean cosmetic products and beauty tips have been gaining much popularity here," explained the rep. "I believe that also played a part in the girl group's rise as Korean culture icons."

AOA released their latest EP, "Heart Attack," on June 22.
