Super Junior Beat Out One Direction, Girls' Generation And 2NE1 For International Artist Award At 2015 Teen Choice Awards

One K-pop group was the real winner of Sunday's Teen Choice 2015 Awards.

Super Junior, the SM Entertainment male idol group, beat out acts like One Direction and Little Mix to win the title of "Choice International Artist." Along with winning that award, Super Junior's fandom, ELF, won the "Choice Fandom" award.

The K-pop act was the only Asian artist to win an award at the Teen Choice 2015 Awards ceremony.

In the International Artist category, Super Junior was up against label mate Girls' Generation, YG Entertainment's 2NE1, One Direction, Little Mix, and 5 Seconds of Summer.

Super Junior's ELF's went up against the fans of 5 Seconds of Summer, Fifth Harmony, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, and One Direction to come out on top and help Super Junior collect awards in two categories.

No members of Super Junior appeared at the Teen Choice Awards, which aired on Sunday on Fox, and the international awards were not broadcasted on television.

The news of Super Junior's awards came as K-pop is gaining momentum on American online polls. Fans of the K-pop girl group T-ara are currently amidst a heated battle with Beyonce's Beyhive fans to gain the winning title in Billboard's Fan Army Face-off 2015.

Super Junior debuted under SM Entertainment in 2005 and became one of K-pop's most iconic groups after the success of their hit song, "Sorry Sorry," in 2009. Super Junior's last performance in the United States was at KCON LA on August 1.
