K-Pop Group SHU-I Disband As Several Members Head To The Military

Boy group SHU-I has officially disbanded.

On August 17, a report by My Daily discussed their official end as a five member boy group. SHU-I made the announcement through their official homepage, also including that members Inseok, Changhyun, and Minho will start their mandatory military service next year. It was also revealed that the three members wish to be active in Japan.

"From 2010 to 2015 we focused on Japanese activities that brought both hard times and happiness," member Inseok shared in the My Daily report. "Even when we thought 'it's better to quit now' we also thought 'we must not give up.' Every memory was a great experience money can't buy."

As for the other two, Hyunjoon and Jinseok stated that they will be pursuing different life paths. Jinseok revealed that he is considering whether or not he wants to continue Japanese activities. "The six years as SHU-I passed by quickly. To me, SHU-I is something I'm proud of," Jinseok shared.

Regardless of their different paths, all the members have said that they will continue to support each other's decisions and activities.

SHU-I debuted in Korea back in 2009. Then, in January 2011 the group made their Japanese debut and continued to pursue Japanese activities, successfully ranking in the top ten on Japan's Oricon charts with each of their albums.
