'Sixteen' Contestant Jiwon Officially Leaves JYP Entertainment

After being cut from the trainee survival program Sixteen, Jiwon has chosen to depart from JYP Entertainment.

Jiwon is one of seven trainees that failed to make it as part of the rookie girl group Twice, and is the first trainee from the cut group to depart from the entertainment label.

JYP Entertainment confirmed Jiwon's departure but reassured that the six members that were not chosen to join Twice are still training under the label.

As news of her departure reached fans, many lamented that her talent will be missed.

"She was actually the best singer of the bunch too," "She was their best singer, who's going to be singing now."

Meanwhile, others wished her luck in her next endeavors and also expressed sympathy for why she would choose to leave JYP Entertainment.

"I honestly think she's a better fit for solo. I hope she's successful."

"Can't imagine how horrible she must've felt seeing her trainee friends get to debut while she stayed behind. There are plenty of successful examples like IU, Doojoon, Hyorin, Choa, and Goo Hara who did well after leaving JYP so this might be better for her. I hope she doesn't lose her dreams and continue to work towards a debut!"
